Denver, Colorado Drug Rehab Help
Substance abuse costs Denver residents, businesses and government at least $1.5 billion a year. Drug-related hospital emergencies occur in Denver at 2 1/2 times the national rate. Denver’s alcohol and drug-related death rate is more than 50% higher than the national average. While there are numerous drug rehabs in Denver, they are not all the same and the face of addiction treatment has changed over the years. From 2000 to the first half of 2005, the proportion of admissions to treatment for methamphetamine increased from 9% to 21%, and in the first half of 2005 there were 718 admissions for methamphetamine abuse. Additionally, about 36% of Denver adult male arrestees interviewed during 2003 reported receiving inpatient or residential treatment at some point in their lives. During 2005, the Denver Police Department reported 4,025 adult arrests for drug abuse violations. In 2004, there were 3,710 such arrests reported. In 2003 over 38% of Denver adult male arrestees who were drug tested were positive for cocaine. Cocaine was also the most common illegal drug reported in Denver area emergency departments. Additional Denver arrestee drug use information for 2003 indicated that approximately 52% of the adult male arrestees and 45% of female arrestees used marijuana within the past year. Among those reporting past year marijuana use, the average number of days the drug was used in the past month was nearly ten days per month.
